Database Backup Instructions
Manually Backing Up MSAS System Data

To back up data from the MSAS system, use a Zip drive, CD burner, or other removable media device to store your backup files. Floppy disks do not have sufficient space for this type of storage.

1.       At the Windows desktop, click Start, then Programs, then BioMeridian International, and then Database Backup Wizard.

This will start the MSAS System Database Backup Wizard.

2.       After reading the welcome screen, click Next.

3.       The next screen directs you to Select MSAS System database file.  Click the Select different archive file . . . button.

4.       The Database Archive File window will appear.  In the Save In field, click the (▼) down arrow symbol.

5.       A drop-down menu will appear. Select the drive where the data will be saved.

  •       If using a Zip disk, look for your Zip drive in this menu.  It will be located near the top of the screen below My Computer

  •       If saving the data on a CD, you will need to follow the procedure for burning a CD as defined by your CD burning software.  This may require you to save the back-up file somewhere on your C: drive, and then save it to the CD.

6.       After selecting the appropriate drive, click the Save button.

7.       Then click the Next button.

8.       Your computer will now record the database information on the ZIP disk, hard drive, or CD.  This process will take several minutes.

9.       When the process is complete, click the Finish button to return to the desktop.
